Functional requirements of A709 Gr36 bridge steel plate

A709 Gr36 plate is a high-strength low-alloy niobium-vanadium structural steel plate, which is an American standard steel plate for bridges. The bridge plate is a thick steel plate specially used for making bridge structural parts. It is made of carbon steel and low-alloy steel for bridge construction with special steel grades. A709 Gr36 bridge steel plate is used to make riveted and bolt-welded road bridges and railway bridges, including cross-sea bridges.

Functional requirements of A709 Gr36 bridge steel plate:
(1) High strength: Generally, its yield strength is above 300MPa.
(2) High resistance: the elongation is required to be 15% to 20%, and the room temperature impact resistance is greater than 600kJ/m to 800kJ/m. Regarding large welded components, high fracture resistance is also required.
(3) Outstanding welding function and cold forming function.
(4) Low cold brittle change temperature.
(5) Outstanding corrosion resistance.
