What material is 40MnB steel?
40MnB steel is alloy structural steel formed by adding boron and manganese elements into carbon structural steel with 0.40% carbon content. 40MnB steel has high strength, high hardness, good plasticity and toughness, and it is generally used after quenching and tempering.
Chemical elements of 40MnB steel: C: 0.37-0.44, Si: 0.17-0.37, Mn: 0.60-0.90, B: 0.0005-0.0035.
40MnB steel mechanical property:
Mechanical properties of 40MnB steel: tensile strength 980 MPa; yield strength: 785 MPa; elongation after fracture: 10; reduction of area: 45; impact energy: 47J.
40MnB steel is used to manufacture small and medium-sized important quenched and tempered parts in tractors, automobiles and other general machinery and equipment, such as automobile half shaft, steering shaft, spline shaft, worm and machine tool spindle, gear shaft, etc. 40MnB steel can replace 40Cr steel to make parts with larger cross-section, such as winch middle shaft, and can replace 40CrNi steel when manufacturing small size parts.
