What is the difference between S420N plates and S420NL steel plate

S420NL plate is a fine grain structural steel, which is a high strength steel plate under European standard EN 10025. S420NL steel plate has higher mechanical properties under the condition of normalizing or normalizing plus tempering. The properties and element content of S420NL material are similar to that of Q420E grade in China.

What is the difference between S420N plates and S420NL steel plate:
S420 steel plate shall be classified as alloy special steel. S420 steel is supplied in the following grades: when the temperature is not lower than - 20℃, the minimum value of impact energy is indicated by N, that is S420N. When the temperature is not lower than - 50℃, the minimum impact energy is indicated by NL, that is S420NL.

Chemical composition of S420NL steel plate:
C ≤0.2, Si ≤0.6, Mn 1-1.7, P ≤0.025, S ≤0.02, Ni ≤0.8, Cr ≤0.3, Mo≤0.1, Cu ≤0.55, Nb ≤0.05, V ≤0.2, Ti ≤0.05, Als ≥0.02, N ≤0.025.

S420NL steel plate is mainly used for large ships, bridges, power station equipment, medium and high pressure boilers, high pressure vessels, lifting machinery, mining machinery and other large welding structural parts.
