SA36 steel plate chemical composition and mechanical performance

SA36 steel plate chemical composition:
SA36 plate is mild steel.
Mild steel has a carbon content of less than 0.3%.
This makes SA36 steel easy to machine, weld, and form, making it ideal for use as a general-purpose steel.
Low carbon also prevents heat treatment from affecting SA36 steel.

SA36 steel also contains small amounts of other alloying elements, such as manganese, sulfur, phosphorus, and silicon. Adding these alloying elements can make SA36 steel have the required chemical and mechanical properties.

Because SA36 steel plate has too little nickel content and too little chromium content, its corrosion resistance is not very good.

Mechanical performance of SA36 steel plate:
The ultimate tensile strength of SA36 steel is 58,000 psi to 79,800 psi.
The exact ultimate tensile strength depends on a variety of factors, such as chemical composition and molding method.

SA36 steel plate is relatively ductile and can stretch to about 20% of its original length when tested in tension. Its ductility and strength also give it excellent impact strength at room temperature.
