P265GH is carbon steel or stainless steel

P265GH is a kind of European standard low alloy high strength structural steel plate, belongs to a kind of boiler container plate, widely used in petroleum, chemical, electric power, boiler and other industries. It has good high temperature strength, weldability and corrosion resistance, and can maintain high mechanical properties and stability in high temperature environments.

The chemical composition of P265GH steel plate meets the requirements of European standard EN 10028-2, mainly including carbon, silicon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, chromium, nickel, molybdenum and other elements, the specific ratio of these elements and heat treatment process makes P265GH has excellent mechanical properties and corrosion resistance.

P265GH is carbon steel, not stainless steel. Carbon steel is a steel alloy containing the main carbon element, which has good weldability and mechanical strength. In contrast, stainless steel contains a higher proportion of alloying elements such as chromium to provide corrosion resistance. In pressure vessel applications, common materials include carbon steel, alloy steel and stainless steel, each with its specific uses and advantages.

In contrast, stainless steel is a corrosion-resistant steel, usually containing more than 10.5% chromium to prevent corrosion. P265GH does not contain a high enough chromium content to be classified as stainless steel, so it falls into the carbon steel category.
