A dense oxide film is formed on the surface of the corten sheet after contact with the atmosphere, thus preventing further oxidation of the atmosphere and the base layer. In the use of corten sheet, if we want to give full play to its good welding performance, we need to take some measures to improve the welding performance.
1. Select alkaline low hydrogen electrode and flux. The alkaline low hydrogen electrode and flux welded joint have low hydrogen content, good desulfurization, dephosphorization performance and high impact toughness. Before use, it needs to be dried at 350-420 degrees Celsius for 1-2 hours, in order to effectively remove moisture, thus reducing the oxygen content of welded joints, and reducing the tendency of cold cracking of joints.
2. Welded spare parts must pass the inspection before they can be paired. No strong pairing is allowed to avoid excessive assembly stress.
3. Reasonable arrangement of welding sequence is based on the principle that the majority of welds can be welded with less stiffness to further reduce welding stress.
4. Preheating before welding, slow cooling after welding or heat treatment. Preheating before welding is usually an important technological measure to prevent cold cracking in high strength steel welding. Slow cooling or heat treatment after welding can make the diffused hydrogen fully escape, reduce welding residual stress, improve structure and reduce hardening, thus reducing the tendency of welding cold cracking. Normally, preheating and slow cooling after welding are not necessary for high strength corten sheet.
