Corten steel and weathering steel have different definitions

1. Corten steel
Corten steel is a kind of foreign name for weathering plate, which belongs to low alloy high strength weathering steel. Corten steel is made of ordinary steel with a small amount of copper and nickel and other corrosion-resistant elements. Corten steel has strong weather resistance, 2-8 times higher than ordinary carbon steel, and has the characteristics of plastic extension, forming, welding, wear, high temperature and fatigue.

2. Weathering steel
Originated in North America, Corten steel is called weathering steel in China, also known as corrosion-resistant steel. It belongs to low alloy series steel, which is between ordinary steel and stainless steel. The weathering steel is composed of ordinary carbon steel with a small amount of copper, nickel and other corrosion-resistant elements. Weathering steel has the characteristics of high-quality steel such as high temperature, fatigue resistance, corrosion, toughness, welding and cutting. It is one of the series of steel grades at the forefront of world super steel technology.
