15# steel is a low-carbon steel material. Its ductility and plasticity are relatively good. Because of its low carbon content (between 0.12-0.18%), its hardness is relatively low. In addition, due to the low carbon content of 15# steel, it is difficult to heat-treat parts made of such materials to increase their hardness. It needs to be heated to above 1100℃. The general barium salt bath furnace cannot handle it, and it needs to be heated with a high temperature nitrate bath furnace.
15# steel has high plasticity and toughness, but low strength and hardness, good forging, welding and cold stamping properties, high cold deformation plasticity, but it is not easy to get a smooth surface during cutting. 15# steel is used to manufacture parts and carburized parts with low stress and high toughness requirements, fasteners and die forgings, and low-load parts without heat treatment.
