Grade AH36 steel is higher strength shipbuilding steel. Shipbuilding steel grade AH36 is available in shapes plate, bar, and profiles. It is used in the construction of container ships, bulk carriers and commercial ships such as liners and ferries.
The material can be supplied as heavy plates, surface treated plates and fabricated sections. Delivered in hot rolled condition. Our AH36 hot rolled plates are supplied under the ASTM/ ASME specification (ASTM A131/ ASME SA 131) which is the standard specification for Structural Steel for Ships.
AH36 steel plates in following specifications:
Technique: hot rolled
Thickness: 5 mm to 150 mm.
Width: 1,500 mm to 2,500 mm.
Length: 6,000 mm to 12,000 mm.
Our Grade AH36 hot rolled shipbuilding steel is produced in accordance with the relevant Classification Society, examples of which include Lloyds Register and Det Norske Veritas. We can also supply bulb flats for plate stiffening, structural steel angles and inverted angles.
Grade AH36 materials shall conform to the required metallurgical structure which shall be evaluated by determining the average grain size. Mechanical properties such as elongation and toughness shall be evaluated using tension test and Charpy V-notch impact test. AH36 High strength steels offer significant cost advantages by reducing the weight of the structure in comparison to the steel used. The plates are suitable for use in the construction of container ships and large cargo freighters as well as commercial shipping lines such as luxury cruise ships and ferries.
