S690QL steel is high strength steel with yield strength ≥ 690 Mpa. That is how it gets its name. S690QL steel is weldable fine grained steel. It is applied in welded steel constructions of various types, such as bridges, load-carrying equipment, transport vehicles, lifting machines and so on. The weldability of S690QL steel has close relation to S690QL carbon equivalent.

S690QL carbon equivalent value CEV = C+Mn/6+(Cr+Mo+V)/5+(Cu+Ni)/15. S690QL carbon equivalent varies with S690QL plate thickness. When S690QL plate thickness ≤ 50mm, the maximum S690QL carbon equivalent is 0.65%. When S690QL plate thickness > 50 ≤ 100mm, the maximum S690QL carbon equivalent is 0.77%. When S690QL plate thickness > 100 ≤ 150mm, the maximum S690QL carbon equivalent is 0.83%.
