Performance and use of No. 15 steel

Performance and use of No. 15 steel

Mechanical properties of No. 15 steel:
Tensile strength σb (MPa): ≥375
Yield strength σs (MPa): ≥225
Elongation δ5/(%): ≥27
Reduction of area ψ/(%): ≥55

No. 15 steel heat treatment:
The S and P impurity content of high-quality carbon structural steel of No. 15 steel is lower than that of ordinary carbon structural steel, generally below 0.035% (mass fraction). No. 15 steel has a large output and a wide range of uses. It is often rolled (or forged) into round, square, and flat products, and some are made into pipes and wires. It is generally used after heat treatment such as normalizing or quenching and tempering, and is mostly used for machinery or machine structural parts.

15# steel use:
No. 15 steel is used to make carburized parts, fasteners, stamping die parts and low-load parts that do not require heat treatment, such as bolts, screws, braces, flanges, chemical reservoirs, steam boilers, etc.
