Manganese plays an important role in GB/T 700 Q275 steel plate

Manganese is one of the most basic elements in GB/T 700 Q275 steel plate, and it plays an important role in Q275 steel.

Manganese is rather stable, and not easy to be oxidized and reduced. Manganese makes GB/T 700 Q275 steel plate harder. Besides, manganese can greatly improve high temperature instantaneous strength of Q275 steel plate.

However, every coin has two sides. Manganese also has disadvantages for GB/T 700 Q275 steel plate.

Manganese will generate tempering brittleness to some extent. In addition, manganese has the effect to promote grain growth, so manganese steel must be paid attention to heat treatment. The shortcoming can be overcome by adding fine grain elements such as molybdenum, vanadium and titanium.
Meanwhile, manganese can reduce the corrosion resistance of steel.
