S275JR carbon steel plate is European standard structural steel, and it is equivalent to GB Q275 steel. S275JR carbon steel plate is used for welding, bolting, and more riveted structure. Is S275JR equivalent to ASTM A36 or not? Let us check together.

ASTM A36 plates have a min. yield strength of 250 MPa and S275JR carbon steel plate has a yield of 275 MPa. And the tensible strength of S275JR carbon steel plate is also little higher than that of ASTM A36 plates. So it is not right to say “S275JR equivalent to ASTM A36”.
